I had a great time being part of the "50 Years of Wilderness" walk at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Gardens in Claremont, CA recently. The weather was perfect with blue skies, big, puffy white clouds, and mild temperatures. Docents at the Garden had interactive stations positioned at different points of the walk that helped bring to light the local environment, plants and responsibilities of hikers when enjoying natural areas. There were several information booths set up that focused on the environment - from National Park Service to Search and Rescue to a group that takes pack mules and volunteers into nature areas to help clean up what has, unfortunately, been left behind by others. In addition to all the resource information, there were great food trucks that provided a diverse selection of good food. Best of all... I got to spend time with wonderful friends while enjoying the views and the exercise!
