WHY THE NAME "WORKERANTS"?
Just like ants in nature, WorkerAnts are the people on the ground doing the day-to-day work and the small acts of kindness and charity that are the catalysts for positive change in this world. And just like ants, we believe that in a group we are stronger. So we created this community to be your one stop for information, discussion and resources – a place where any WorkerAnt in the world can come and feel connected and empowered to make the world a better place.

The actions you take to affect positive change in the world – whatever they may be – make you a WorkerAnt. We know there are numerous ways you can contribute. Here are ways you can use our site to affect change.
Find New Organizations
Explore organizations on our map. There are thousands of organizations to support, volunteer opportunities to find and potential partner organizations with which to collaborate. Search for short-term or long-term opportunities, search by cause or location. Not only that, when you find an organization you, like you can spread the word by using the Tell a Neighbor function on the organization page.
Review Organizations
Reviewing and rating organizations helps increase awareness of the organizations you support. Sharing your experience with and knowledge of an organization may encourage someone else to volunteer. It will also help people who are searching for just the right organization to support.
Network
As a member of WorkerAnts.com, you can start creating an online community to connect with people and share your stories, pictures and experiences so that we may all grow in our vision and experience. Your Backyard is also an easy place to keep track of events, organize your Colonies and meet new and interesting WorkerAnts.
Find Resources
WorkerAnts lists hundreds of websites, journals, databases and other resources in our Resources section so that you can easily find information for and about charities, volunteers and specific causes or issues.
Join or Create a Colony
Colonies are places where you can join with people and organizations that share your interests. In a Colony, you can tell your story, pool resources and start or join group events. For example, are you thinking of volunteering out of town or overseas? Join a Colony of local people and organizations, ask fellow members questions about required travel documents, find a good hotel, locate partner organizations to collaborate with and expand your project scope, find a good local grocery store or just get tips on what to pack.

Did you know you can gift your Ant Tracks to people who demonstrate the spirit of philanthropy and post a note about them on the Ant Hill? Not only will everyone see their accomplishment, but they can accumulate Ant Tracks to reach goals (see below) and use them to get new goodies for their Ant. It is a great way to recognize an unsung hero or celebrate someone’s accomplishments. Did a neighbor mow your lawn while you had a broken leg? Do you know someone who regularly donates time at a local shelter? Did your best friend just finish raising money for a women’s shelter? There are millions of us out there doing good every day. Take the time to recognize the ones you know.

When you join WorkerAnts, you get your own Backyard: a place to post information about you, read daily feeds from your Neighbors and organizations, post pictures, join Colonies, customize your Ant avatar and watch your Ant Tracks grow.
WHAT ARE ANT TRACKS?
As a member of WorkerAnts.com you have the ability to earn Ant Tracks. Ant Tracks are our small way of rewarding you for making a difference in the world. Ant Tracks are earned for doing activities on the site, such as reviewing an organization, starting a Colony or inviting someone to join the site. The Ant Tracks you earn can be used to recognize someone on the Ant Hill or purchase gear for your Ant. Earn enough Ant Tracks and you can level up and earn cool gear and special designations.
